Professor James Fawcett is Chairman of the John van Geest Centre for Brain Repair. His main interest is the repair of CNS damage. Plasticity is the ability of the brain to bypass damage by creating new circuits. His work has shown how plasticity can be activated in the damaged adult nervous system, and how this can restore motor and sensory function and memory.
